Keir Starmer and his "Cabinet of commies" have a severe case of UK-itis. An irrational loathing of the UK, its history, sovereignty, industrial past and military.
Each day they are in office, they take another step to destroy it. Signing away the Chagos Islands was one such unnecessary act of self-harm, as was granting permission for the Chinese mega-embassy in central London. But last week, at the Munich Security Conference, Starmer managed to hit a new low, even by his grubby standards.
What is it about Munich and British prime ministers? In 1938, Neville Chamberlain signed the Munich Agreement, declaring "peace in our time" – and we all know how that worked out. Now, 88 years on, Starmer has signed his own Munich deal with the EU – one he is hailing as achieving energy security, but which will turn out to be another Starmer costly capitulation.
In his Munich speech, Sir Keir made it plain: "We are not the Britain of the Brexit years any more."
Grovelling on all fours before rolling over to get his tummy tickled, he signalled that he is prepared to betray Brexit – another U-turn after promising to honour the result of the referendum – and surrender to the EU, leaving the UK bound by their energy rules. That will accelerate the unaffordable white elephant of net zero, which is destroying our manufacturing industry and making energy bills unaffordable for so many people.
All this, of course, is at a time when virtually every country outside of the EU has abandoned net zero. India, for example, recently celebrated mining a billion tonnes of coal in 12 months, and yet Starmer and his Cabinet of clowns are closing down North Sea Oil production at the altar of climate stupidity.
And Rachel Reeves, who only weeks ago said Britain would not "go back in time" with the EU, now describes closer ties as the "biggest prize" which requires "further alignment – but I'm up for that".
Starmer has gone back on his manifesto promises and Reeves, having broken the economy, clearly doesn’t know what else to do.
During the last period of Labour Government, Estelle Morris resigned her post as Education Secretary after admitting that she wasn’t up to the job. If only Starmer and Reeves would show that level of self-awareness and do the same thing.
Despite promising otherwise, Starmer has always wanted to overturn the result of the EU referendum – and his widespread delay of local elections this year, which he has now been forced to U-turn on, shows his contempt for democracy.
Sometimes I wonder if Reeves and Starmer have deliberately run the economy into the ground so they can blame Brexit and smooth the path to rejoining the EU, but on balance, I don’t think they are clever enough.
No, I think the explanation is more simple. Not only are they utterly useless, they have a deep loathing of our country.
