09 May A fantastic evening at the Verve Clicquot business awards
Wonderful night at the Veuve Clicquot Awards last night. I went as guest of Debbie Moore, founder of Pineapple, Trustee of my children’s charity If Chloe Can and previous winner. Of course we had a glass of Veuve on arrival, it would have been positively rude not to and we had to be ready to toast the winners and nominees! ….. Who were….
Clare Gilmartin founder of thetrainline.com
Charlotte Tilbury founder of Charlotte Tilbury
Winner – Sarah Wood founder of Unruly
And for the new generation award, nominees were Alice Bentinck, founder of Entrepreneur First, Robyn Exton founder of HER. And the winner was – Cassandra Stavou founder of Propercorn.
The awards were inspired by the fearless Madame Clicquot who at the age of 27, in 1805, when widowed, took over the House of Veuve Clicquot.
Under her ownership and skill with wine, the company developed early champagne using a novel technique called riddling! The strength she needed to succeed in 1805 and the ingenuity she needed to overcome are the same qualities that the judges are looking for in today’s winners.
